Working with other students in a helping role will provide you with some of the most valuable experience you could ever get during your college years.  

 

We want successful, caring, dedicated service oriented students to work in the Success Center! We are currently recruiting for Fall 2009.  If you are interested in being a Tutor, Mentor, or Supplemental Instruction(SI) Leader for Truman's Student Success Center, and you have scholarship hours or qualify for work study, please contact us and help start this new exciting program. Some institutional funds will also be available.  Tutors, mentors, and SI Leaders will need to fill out an application and return it to the Student Success Center.

 Requirements for peer academic support positions at Truman Student Success Center

  • Be an enrolled undergraduate with at least a 3.0 GPA overall
  • Attend an information session or interview  with the Success Center Director.
  • Complete an application and provide a faculty recommendation from each department for courses you want to support.
  • Have received a B or better in the courses you want to support.
  • Complete Student Success Center Training and continue to attend future ongoing training sessions.
  • Tutor, mentor, and/or work at least  4-5 hours/week in the center.
  • Be able to work in the Success Center for 2 subsequent semesters.
  • Have good communication skills and be a team player.
